Top Shows on TV: December 2021.
Special notes
It's a singing show, not comedy
SABC2's Sunday night singing competition Stand Up South Africa made the channel's Top 20 list for the first time with its finale on Sunday 5 December.
It had a daytime behind-the-scenes component which appeared in the
Top 20 in September but this is the first time the Sunday night show appeared.
The series was won by Capetonian mother and son duo Bianca and Branden MacMaster and should have had a different name because it sounds like it's a comedy show.
In our opinion it would have been on the Top 20 list sooner if it was clear what the show was, especially considering the dwindling interest in Idols.
The two shows clashed for half an hour so viewers might have channel hopped if they were bored with Idols and if the concept of the show was clearer from the name.
Ultimately though, it should also have aired at a different time to give it the best shot possible.
