Happiness and a lightness of spirit, starring an actress who became so unhappy she quit the show.
Add a dollop of
Legends of the Fall and you have the recipe for Star Life's new series Happy Hearts which replaces
Wedding Planners from Sunday 30 January at 21h00.
Jasmin Bhasin stars as Happy Mehra, an eternal optimist who tries to spread happiness wherever she goes. Trouble strikes when she finds herself caught between two brothers who want her affections.
She befriends Chintu, the kind, elder brother who falls in love with her and they marry.
All this while younger, playboy brother Rocky struts around arrogantly but with an open heart to her.
They have that "grrrrrrr", love/hate relationship and Happy fights with him constantly. You know how people can find that hott.
As the series unfolds she realises that she has feelings for him too.
The story takes a flashforward twice over the course of the show, by three years and then six, which is when Jasmin quit her role.
Actress and schmodel Donal Bisht replaced her and according to Times of India, it's because Jasmin didn't want to play a mother.
This quote by her from their article about it:
“The story-line of the show underwent a change recently along with a time leap. Initially, I wasn’t aware, but when I read the screenplay, I realized that I would have to play a mother.
"I didn’t want to do that, as that is not what I signed up for. I informed my producers and the creative team, accordingly.”
“The time leap was premature. When the script was narrated to me, I had asked the producers whether there would be a child, too, on the show.
"I was told that my character wouldn’t get married for at least a year. However, it’s just been six months and there has been a change in plan already.
"I was unhappy about this sudden turn of events, but I am glad that we have parted ways amicably."
Turns out she isn't the only Bollywood actress who's left a show because of not wanting to play a mother.
As you'll see, the article lists nine actresses who've quit series because of not wanting to play a mom or grandmother. Seems they didn't want to be associated with being old enough to be one.
