Best Actor and Actress winners: Ke Huy Quan, Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Fraser and Jamie Lee Curtis

Last year we had The Oscars Slap, which was highly annoying because of how over-hyped it was but this year nothing scandalous happened during the ceremony.

Host Jimmy Kimmel made cheesy jokes about last year of course, singer Tems wore a massive wedding veil that blocked people's view and Angela Bassett didn't clap for Jamie Lee Curtis when she won Best Supporting Actress, but that was it. The guests, presenters and winners were as well behaved as the wax statues at Madame Tussauds.

Hugh Grant was the only one who ruffled lots of feathers when he delivered a classic diss of the event in the red carpet interviews before*. We've included it at the end of this article.

As for the actual awards... absurdist comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All at Once headlined the night with seven wins, including Best Picture and all of the acting categories, except for Best Actor.

This was won by Brendon Fraser for his role in The Whale where he wore prosthetics that are said to have weighed 140kg to portray lead character Charlie.

In other words, he did a Charlize Theron in Monster with a radical physical transformation - award judges always love that.

The ceremony aired live on M-Net Movies 1 and repeats this evening (13 March) at 20h30.

These are the nominees, with the winners in red:
