The National Film and Video Foundation is on a search for jury members for the 2024 South African Film and Television Awards.
As you may know, it's become an annual process
since 2020 whereby members of the film and TV industry can nominate contemporaries to be on the SAFTAs judging panel.
They're calling for experienced, passionate, measured and insightful industry practitioners to serve as members of the jury.
These are the SAFTAs objectives when it comes to the judging process:
1. Each jury panel shall be balanced with respect to age, gender, experience, ethnicity, and industry skills.
2. An invitation will be sent to previous SAFTAs winners and key industry specialists with a minimum of eight years' experience and specialised skill set competency to form part of the 2024 Jury.
3. Category juries should preferably amount to an odd number with a recommended minimum of
seven and a maximum of 11 judges per panel.
4. A preference of 70% of the skilled members of a particular jury should be practitioners working within the craft of each category.
5. The judging process has two phases and 90 judging categories to deliberate on.
6. Individuals who are nominated to be on the jury will need to be fully engaged in the judging process to ensure a credible process.
Judging will take place between 6 May and 19 July 2024.
