Mayday!
We have a potential re-load of the situation that happened
over the Festive Season in 2019 when Generations: The Legacy suddenly went on a "holiday hiatus" as a cover-up to the fact that there was no signed agreement between Morula Pictures and the SABC for the new season at the time.
After huge amounts of fuss and uncertainty, the contract was negotiated and finalised
just in time to keep Gen on air with no interruptions and now there's similar tension in the air.
First up: this isn't the usual timing for the show's contract to be renewed. We were initially under the impression that Season 10 had started at the end of last year after Season 9's 260 episodes.
It wasn't though. Season 9 was extended for 130 episodes which takes us to 20 May this year.
And now we're hearing that the paperwork for Season 10 isn't a done deal and that the season hasn't been confirmed as a "go", which immediately sounds warning bells of déjà vu.
The show and the SABC has released casting news about
Didintle Khunou joining the show in mid-June and
Muzi Mthabela and
Ronnie Nyakale leaving for an "indefinite hiatus" between May and August, so things are proceeding as per usual when it comes to the production.
However, as we know from experience, this won't matter if Mfundi gets his Vundla on when it comes to contracts - if he's not happy, it's not happening - and even if he is, the SABC has its notorious track record when it comes to financial matters.
With that in mind, here's a link to your latest teasers but please be aware that soapieville drama could strike the show when it's time for the Season 10 premiere:
