Taking on Taylor Swift

After a lengthy legal battle against pop star Taylor Swift, plaintiff Sean Hall speaks with CNN on how decades of cultural appropriation have shaped the music industry and gives insight on the case that Taylor Swift just couldn't shake off.

As Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour expands around the globe and onto the silver screen, this is an investigation into the copyright lawsuit brought by songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler against Swift for her hit song Shake it Off.

The special explores creativity, credit and the hazy line between cultural appreciation and appropriation.

The 2017 lawsuit, which was settled and dismissed in 2022, alleged the chorus of Shake It Off ("'cause the players gonna play, play, play...") is a direct lift from the 2000 song, Playas Gon' Play, written by Hall and Butler, and made famous by the girl group, 3LW.

For the first time since taking legal action, Hall spoke exclusively to CNN, along with his attorney Marina V. Bogorad, about their experience taking on an indisputable giant of the music industry.

Taking On Taylor Swift scrutinises the legal, ethical and cultural merits of this case and similar lawsuits lodged against some of the world's biggest popstars.

The special features insights from songwriters Tayla Parx and Kandi Burruss, and provocative observations from critics and journalists including Shirley Halperin (Los Angeles Magazine), Sidney Madden (NPR) and Mikael Wood (LA Times).

Symon's Dinners Cooking Out 3

Food Network star and Iron Chef Michael Symon is back with new episodes of his outdoor cooking series, Symon's Dinners Cooking Out.

After capturing an audience when Michael invited fans to cook a nightly dinner with him live on Food Network Kitchen's Facebook page, the show became a hit, with Michael sharing family recipes and stories using pantry-friendly ingredients with step-by-step cooking instructions for viewers at home.

Joined by his wife Liz, social media manager Liv, and frequent appearances by his puppy Norman, Michael returns with 10 self-shot episodes showcasing some of his favourite outdoor dishes and cooking techniques perfect for summer, while demonstrating how simple and fun it is to make amazing meals at home.

Over the course of the season Michael shares tips and tricks for working an everyday backyard grill to create amazing, simple meals to make at home.

From grilled foods to unconventional entrées, Michael's passion for cooking is ever on display as is his desire to help viewers create home-cooked dishes for themselves and their families.

In the Season 3 premiere, "Chicken and Waffles Gone Greek": Inspired by his heritage, Michael combines traditional Greek dishes with backyard American grilling.

Utilising the earthy flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean, Michael makes sesame roasted chicken thighs by marinating the chicken in a sesame seed sauce to add crunch before finishing on the grill.

While he whips up some traditional baba ganoush, his wife, Liz, joins him to make feta waffle chips, elevating tangy feta by transforming it into crispy waffle fries.

In the second episode of the weekly double bill, "Lizzie's Favorite Italian Feast": Italian food tastes like home, so Michael and Lizzie prepare an elegant Italian feast.

They pair Lizzie's tender and delicious chicken cutlets with Michael's spaghetti with pesto tomato sauce, a classical tomato sauce with a tangy twist.

They top off the day with Lizzie's refreshing, fruity C and C Slushy.

Antiques Roadshow 46

Fiona Bruce is once again at the helm as members of the public bring along their treasures and heirlooms, as well as the occasional car boot or charity shop find, in the hopes of finding out more about the history of their items and their value.

Dust off your family heirlooms and dig out those car boot bargains as the series is back on the trail of the UK's hidden treasures.

Antiques Roadshow's experts visit more of Britain's most sumptuous and unusual locations, inviting the public to bring their antiques for examination and share stories of how they came to own them.

The specialists in art, furniture and collectables advise on the history of the pieces and their likely value.

In the Season 46 premiere, "Swanage Pier and Seafront 1": The roadshow is at Swanage Pier and seafront in Dorset on England's south coast, where treasures include a rare Omega watch that was run over by a lawnmower – but does expert Richard Price think it's worth saving?

Duncan Campbell is amazed by the best silver item he's ever seen on a roadshow, a tiny teapot by a renowned maker, while a group of three stunning diamond jewels makes John Benjamin's day.

Cristian Beadman examines an unusual artefact dug up in a back garden in St Albans that may have come all the way from ancient Egypt, while Mark Hill sees a more modern treasure in the form of souvenirs from the Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back.

Mark is also fascinated by an array of drag queen costumes that once belonged to pantomime and TV legend John Inman, while Marc Allum sees several albums of hand-drawn Victorian postcards that tell a very personal story.

Will Farmer challenges Fiona Bruce to a guessing game with some of his own Poole pottery collection that doesn't go entirely to plan – for either of them – and miscellany specialist Raj Bisram shares three personal items that tell the story of his life in antiques.

In the second episode of the weekly double bill, "Crystal Palace Park, London 1": The roadshow is at Crystal Palace Park in south east London, where highlights include a diamond ring found wrapped up in a sock, a Louis Vuitton trunk and a surprise visit from a living artist.

Will Farmer is delighted to see a pair of majolica whippets, while Jon Baddeley is stunned to discover a rare sundial by Thomas Tuttell that dates back to the end of the 17th century.

Lee Young is intrigued by a trio of bronze Chinese censers bought from a flea market, while Ronnie Archer Morgan discovers clothing and correspondence with a direct link to Ethiopian ruler Haile Selassie.

Fiona Bruce meets cartoonist Ralph Steadman, best known for his work with maverick American journalist Dr Hunter S Thompson, while Mark Smith challenges Fiona to identify secret Second World War spy gadgets concealed in everyday items.

Clare Tole-Moir is thrilled to see a rare DIY kit dress by fashion designer Paco Rabanne, while John Foster admires a jointed wooden artist's model with a surprising value.
