Giraffe delivers tallest number for The Masked Singer SA
The Masked Singer South Africa's Season 2 finale on Saturday 29 June delivered a record viewership for the series with 1,013,809 viewers tuning in.
It's never reached over a million on the channel before, not for Season 1 nor 2.
The second season
was won by actor Warren Masemola who Jamrocked as a Giraffe.
Afrikaans News makes itself at home
The Afrikaans News is now attracting the same viewership on S3 as when it was on SABC2. In fact, it's increased but this could be because of the elections. Also, there was no loadshedding this month in contrast with March 2024, which was its final month on SABC2.
Viewership since then:
- 515,692 viewers on SABC2 in
March,
- 417,134 in
April, during its first month on S3
- 434,236 in
May and,
- 638,407 in June.
The Mystery with Shahan Ramkissoon
The situation with The Last Word with Shahan Ramkissoon attracting over 3-million viewers on e.tv on 25 June is a mystery we've been trying to solve because it's never reached these numbers before.
It airs nightly at 20h30 between the News and Smoke & Mirrors but these BRC documents list it as airing at 21h00 on the 25th.
Did it air at 21h00 that night and if so, did it reach over 3-million because viewers thought they were tuning in for Smoke & Mirrors? If you were there, please holler.
Alternatively it could be an error in these documents.
