Ntando Zondi as Themba, Njengaye and Nomfundo’s lurve child.
We brought you the scoop on Ntando's Season 2 debut
here, and now we have our TVSA clutches on the details of his character.
Turns out Themba's at the centre of an "It's complicated," relationship, filled with emotional triggers for a teen.
The sort of set-up neighbours whisper about, peeping through windows in a glee-fest of gossip.
This is what we've heard:
He's Njengaye and Nomfundo’s 16-year-old love child who's always been kept away from the rest of the family.
He was neither raised by his mother, nor his father, but he has spent most of his life in the presence of his mother whenever she visits.
His upbringing is filled with barely any childhood memories that involve a united family, but he continues to hold on to the bit pieces of a very few memories he has of all three of them together.
Themba went from school to school over his primary years, with every house “upgrade” Njengaye blessed Nomfundo with.
But finally, when he got to high school, he was no longer influenced by the moves and changes that occurred because of the lovebirds’ decisions to “grow” their love.
Themba started boarding school in Grade 8 and has enjoyed his stay there since. He often jokes about having raised himself, but this is an internal wound he has lived with his entire childhood.
He has always had a stronger bond with his mother, and an even stronger desire to get to spend more time with his father and know him more.
We''ll be introduced to Themba in the plight of a family crisis when a family member brings him to the Dlamini home and reveals his identity as Njengaye and Nomfundo’s love child.
He is then welcomed into the family and from that moment Themba fights for validation and approval at the expense of his own mental and emotional wellbeing.
Season 2 premieres on Monday 29 July and Themba arrives two days later.
