Netflix has released the first footage from the new TV series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft coming up on 10 October.
It's based on the video game Survivor trilogy about archaeologist Lara Croft who must stay alive as she explores ancient tombs and ruins in search of artefacts.
These are our first impressions:
1. It features this cool quote: "Don't make the same mistakes he did."
Wise words to apply to whoever that may be in your life.
2.
Lara is voiced by Marvel movies favourite Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter) and the animation is by Powerhouse Animation Studios, who did Castlevania for Netflix too.
The animation of Lara is quite convincing although her chin's too pointy for our liking. When the show was announced as an animated series we initially thought it would be better as a live action series with a real life person as Lara but then we remembered Angelina Jolie in the movies and changed our minds immediately.
If it was live action we'd have Angelina and Brad Pitt and their relentless bickering in the back of our minds constantly and we don't want that.
Which could be a problem in the future because Amazon Prime has their own Lara Croft series coming up too and it's going to be live action.
3. Lara's boobs are less pronounced and fantasy rounded in the series than in the games.
In the games - from Tomb Raider I - III Remastered
(She could be a Real Gold Digger)
In the series
This is the synopsis, followed by the teaser:
Following the events of the Survivor series, Lara Croft has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures.
But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artefact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection.
Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self, and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.
