Joanne Cronje, 23, is currently studying a Masters Degree in Financial Economics and Investment Management at the University of the Free State’s main campus in Bloemfontein.
In addition to this, she works part time as an Assistant Officer and Research Assistant at the Department of Economics at the university.
She would ultimately like to own her own company one day, empowering and financially enabling the poor.
Her greatest inspiration comes from disadvantaged people who have experienced severe setbacks in life, such as loss or disabilities, yet refuse to let their circumstances keep them from experiencing both joy and success in life like, Nick Vujicic from Australia.
He has no arms and legs, only a small foot with one or two toes yet he has triumphed over adversity to become a world renowned motivational speaker from Australia. He was in South Africa roughly a year ago.
"If I had to win Miss SA, I would want to get involved in as much charity work as possible.
"Winning Miss SA would allow me to set a year of my life aside to help, inspire and bring joy to the lives of as many people as possible. This would allow me to live out one of my strongest passions – my passion for people.
"I would also like to mentor and assist young ladies in dealing with typical issues that young women face on a daily basis, such as low self esteem and peer pressure."
