Angel Coulby is an English actress best known for her starring role as Guinevere (Gwen) in the fantasy drama television series The Adventures of Merlin (also known simply as Merlin), from 2008-2012.
Coulby was bitten by the acting bug at an early age. She decided to pursue the career and trained at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh when she got older, acquiring a degree in acting.
She began her career in 2001, taking on the role of Shiv in the series 'Orrible, written and starring Johnny Vaughan. From 2005 to 2006, Coulby was seen playing Gillian in the series Vincent, before guest-starring on Tripping Over and The Bill.
In 2007, Coulby was seen on another ITV series, titled Talk to Me, before she starred in the BBC Three sitcom The Visit. In 2008, she landed the role of Gwen on the fantasy series Merlin and played the role for five seasons, until 2012.
In 2013 she had a starring role in the period drama television series Dancing on the Edge as jazz singer Jessie, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Head, John Goodman, and Jane Asher.
She also starred as Laura Roebuck, Karl's wife who is pregnant when she discovers he is having an affair with a suspect, in the British/French crime drama television series The Tunnel, adapted from the Danish/Swedish crime series The Bridge.
