Bio
Dean and Dan Caten are Canadian identical twin brother fashion designers and the creators of Dsquared², a high-end fashion label. They are also the hsots of the Bravo reality competition Launch My Line.
Hailing from Willowdale Ontario, Dean and Dan have operated in the International fashion business since 1984. They moved to New York City in 1983 to attend the Parsons School for Design, and then went on to Italy in 1991.
Their new life in Italy resulted in several collaborations with fashion forward brands, and they soon went on to produce their own premiere men's fashion show, marking the first in a long succession of runway shows that captured the attention of journalists and buyers with their combination of fashion, music and theatre.
The mix of irreverent Canadian wit and refined Italian tailoring, together with attention to detail are the foundation of today's Dsquared² philosophy, giving life to a unique concept of alternative luxury.
Dsquared² collections have conquered a wider audience becoming more chic and sophisticated while maintaining their creative roots.
This evolution is also due to the continuous International inspiration received by Dean and Dan, who, while splitting their life and work between Milan and London, create their collections in Italy – "Born in Canada, living in London, made in Italy."
Thanks to a lucky introduction with Madonna, Dean and Dan were able to leave an unforgettable mark in Hollywood and around the globe.
They were commissioned to design 150 outfits both for Madonna as well as her dancers for the 2002 Drowned World Tour and for the video, Don't Tell Me.
Dean and Dan have gone on to continue to seduce Young Hollywood starlets and pop royalty with their pioneering and provocative designs.
They have since built significant collaborations throughout the music industry with such A-List talent as Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, Usher, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears' Circus Tour.
In addition to their passion for musical alliances, the Dsquared² brand has attracted a devoted following of such celebrities as Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Eva Mendes, Victoria and David Beckham, Shakira, Lenny Kravitz and Orlando Bloom.
In addition to their celebrity following, Dsquared² has received numerous industry accolades including, the "La Kore" award for Most Original Designers, considered the Oscars of the Italian fashion world, the prestigious Spanish award "Aguja de Oro" (Golden Needle); and they were named "Men of the Year" by GQ Magazine USA, Spain and Germany as the Best Breakthrough Design Team.
In the fall of 2009, Dean and Dan were inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame.
