Greg Giraldo (10 December 10, 1965 – 29 September, 2010) was a Spanish-American stand-up comedian, television personality and retired lawyer best known for his appearances on Comedy Central's televised roast specials, and for his work on that network's television shows Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Lewis Black's Root of All Evil, and the programming block Stand-Up Nation, the last of which he hosted.
He was also a judge on the seventh season of the reality competition Last Comic Standing, in 2010.
Greg's first one hour special, Midlife Vices aired on Comedy Central. Midlife Vices made numerous best of lists at the end of 2009.
Greg also wrote for and was one of the main cast members on Lewis Black's Root of All Evil for Comedy Central. He was the most featured Roaster on the Comedy Central Roasts, roasting Bob Saget, William Shatner, Flava Flav and Pamela Anderson, to name a few.
He was also well known from his stint as a regular panelist on Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.
In addition to his two half hour stand-up specials, Comedy Central Presents... Greg Giraldo, he also performed on Late Show with David Letterman and was a guest on Late Night with Conan O' Brien a dozen times. He also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and appeared on The Wanda Sykes Show.
On 25 September, 2010, Giraldo overdosed on prescription medication. After he failed to appear for a scheduled performance at the Stress Factory, police officers found him in his hotel room at the Hyatt Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and rushed him to nearby Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
He was in a coma for five days when his family had life support removed. He died on 29 September, 2010, at the age of 44.
