Bio
Andre Odendaal is a South African actor and director best known to television audiences for his roles in the kykNET drama series Getroud Met Rugby and Hartland.
Odendaal graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1983 with a B.A. (Hons) in Drama. He joined PACT Drama Company in 1986 where he worked until 1990 as a permanent actor in the company, acting in everything from Shakespeare to Pantomime.
During this time, he performed in over 45 stage productions and continued to perform on stage for many years following that.
Andre has appeared in a wide variety of television productions over the years, including Going Up, Human Cargo for CBC and the mini-series Rhodes for the BBC.
Since 1999, Andre has focused mainly on directing. His directing career started with the e.tv sitcom SOS and continued into other television productions such as Madam and Eve, Mazinyo Dot Q, Fishy Feshuns, Backstage, Ryhthm City, Binnelanders and Askies.
His directing on feature films have included such films as Hey Boy (2002) for M-Net, produced by Brendan Pollecutt; and Skilpoppe (2004) for M-Net, produced by Roberta Durrant.
Films he has acted in include Dust Devil, Proteus, Blast, District 9 and Platteland.
