Bio
Courtney Mazza is an American entertainer best known as the girlfriend of showbiz personality Mario Lopez, with whom she appeared in the 2010/2011 reality show Mario Lopez: Saved By the Baby.
Performing since she was five, Mazza has been studying her craft - acting, singing and dancing - from age four through college, with aspirations to be On Broadway.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her journey began with performances in numerous community and regional theatres, such as the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (CLO).
She did numerous print ads, commercials and musical revues in the Pittsburgh area, earning her AFTRA membership, and in New York City, where she spent one summer auditioning and working. She was six years old at the time.
Next came the Pittsburgh CLO Mini-Stars, a children's performing group, which she was a part of for 10 years.
In middle school, Courtney was involved in two separate projects, teaching kids about self esteem and illiteracy, through music. At this time, she was also a guest soloist for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, headed by Marvin Hamlisch.
During her time at the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), Courtney was involved in the high school musicals, landing the lead role in three.
She achieved recognition for these with three nominations, and two wins for best actress, as a freshman and senior, winning Gene Kelly Awards, created to honour excellence in Musical Theatre and named after Pittsburgh's own, Gene Kelly.
When she was 18, Courtney earned her Equity card by performing in the ensemble for five summers and in a lead role in Fiddler on the Roof at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (CLO).
At age 20, while attending the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, she auditioned and was selected from thousands of applicants to be a member of a four-person girl group, Audrey Blue. This event was sponsored by YM magazine.
After a YM photo shoot and with a recording completed, Audrey Blue was to debut the original song Stay to the world, on the afternoon of September 11, 2001. This, of course, never happened.
Shortly after came an offer to do a Broadway Revue in Atlantic City at Caesar's Palace, where she worked for three months performing nightly. Then came the move to New York City and closer to her dream.
Upon arriving there, Courtney's first audition landed her a spot in the Britney Spears video, Me Against the Music. Soon after, came the Broadway national tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie, taking her to many cities across the country for one year.
Next was the Broadway preview of Princesses, making its debut in Seattle. Then came Broadway workshops of Pure Country, and Construction.
After this work, Courtney landed a job in the revival of A Chorus Line for a year, where she met Mario Lopez. She left that to become part of the original cast for the stage version of Cry Baby the Musical by John Waters, in its pre-Broadway preview at the La Hoya Playhouse, San Diego, and in it's Broadway premier.
She was involved with this project for a little over a year. When Cry Baby closed, Courtney was asked to rejoin the cast of A Chorus Line until it's closing performance.
Finally, her Broadway run also included Disney's smash hit, The Little Mermaid, with an appearance in Macys' Thanksgiving Day Parade to complete her Broadway dream.
Before her move to LA in 2009, Courtney made an appearance on the CBS soap As the World Turns. In LA she has worked as a correspondent for Top Rank Boxing, conducting pre-fight interviews for the HBO network.
