Bio
Lara Jean Chorostecki is a Canadian actress best known for her television roles as Toby's Mother Maya in The Listener (2009), as Charlie in Dan for Mayor (2010) and as Bridget in Camelot, in 2011.
She also has a recurring role as Freddie Lounds, a trashy tabloid blogger and aspiring journalist who will stop at nothing to get her story, in the psychological thriller television series Hannibal.
Other television credits include the recurring character of Sybil O'Brien in the BBC America series Copper, Charlie in Season 1 of CTV's Dan for Mayor, a lead role in The 19th Wife (Lifetime), guest spots on Beauty and the Beast (CW), Republic of Doyle (CBC), The Listener (CTV), The Border (CBC) and a smattering of roles in other programs and short films.
Feature film credits include the lead in Please Kill Mr. Know It All and a role in Brandon Cronenberg's first feature Antiviral.
Chorostecki began her career at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, where she was the youngest graduate of The Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre Training, and enjoyed four seasons with the festival.
Outside of Stratford, she has acted for Toronto theatre companies such as CanStage, Resurgence and Theatre Smash, working in both classical theatre and new Canadian play development.
Favourite roles include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden and Katie Brubacher in Quiet in the Land.
A recipient of a Brampton Arts Award (from her hometown of Brampton, Ontario, Canada), Chorostecki holds a master's degree from England's Central School of Speech and Drama.
