Bio
Stephen Phillips is an Australian actor best known for his starring role as Zach Armstrong in the television drama series Winners & Losers, since 2011.
Phillips' initial motivation to become an actor was simple. "I joined the drama group at school because all the really cute girls did it".
His interest in acting grew from there. After graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2002, Stephen began his love affair with the theatre appearing in a string of acclaimed productions.
He's worked extensively with the Melbourne Theatre Company starring in Metamorphoses, Take Me Out, Boy Gets Girl, A Streetcar Named Desire and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, where he played Nick opposite Garry McDonald and Wendy Hughes.
He's also toured with the Bell Shakespeare Company playing Orlando in As You Like It.
After guest roles in Blue Heelers, Neighbours, Last Man Standing, Offspring and City Homicide, Winners & Losers was his first major TV role.
For acting inspiration, he looks up to esteemed American actor Willem Dafoe.
In his spare time, when he is not renovating his home Stephen enjoys running, swimming and teaching Pilates.
