Bio
Shannon Kook-Chun is a South African-born Canadian actor best known for his starring role as Zane Park in the teen drama television series Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Kook-Chun was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa before moving to Canada to study at the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada.
Upon graduating, he appeared on stage at the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People and at the Citadel Theatre in their Dora-nominated production of The Forbidden Phoenix.
He was next seen at the Factory Theatre in the world-premiere production of The Madness of the Square.
Entering the world of film and television proved a natural fit for Shannon. In less than a year, he shot guest star roles in CBC's The Border and Being Erica, as well as appearing in Crash $ Burn, Aaron Stone, and having a recurring role on HBO's Durham County.
Shannon also joined the cast of Degrassi in 2009, playing the role of confident and intelligent Zane.
In the teaser trailer for the feature Verona, directed by Laurie Lynd, he is featured as the modern Romeo. Shannon also filmed a guest-starring role on ABC/Global's Rookie Blue as a new recruit.
In 2010, Shannon traveled to India to build a school with the organization "Free The Children". A documentary of the trip was made for MuchMusic in Canada.
Off set, Shannon tries his hand at singing and dancing lessons, photography, motorbikes and martial arts; while also making time for family and not enough for his drum set and Ibanez guitar.
