Bio
Chad Ochocinco (previously known as Chad Johnson) is an American football wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted him from Oregon State in 2001.
In his 9th season with the Bengals he held the franchise record for most receiving yards in a season (1,440), most receiving yards all time, most receptions, most receiving yards in a game (260), most seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards (6) and most touchdowns in a game (3).
He is a 6-time Pro-Bowler and named All-Pro 3 times.
He made headlines in 2008 when he legally changed his name from Chad Johnson to Chad Ochocinco to match his jersey number "85" (Ocho Cinco in Spanish means "8" and "5").
Off the field his name continues to make headlines as well. In the 10th season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, Chad made it to the semi-finals. He was the only celebrity with no dancing background to make it that far.
In July of 2010, VH1 debuted the reality series Ochocinco, The Ultimate Catch; a dating show where "85" women from the four regions of the country competed tournament style for the chance to date and ultimately fall in love with Chad.
Perhaps Chad's popularity can best be seen by his use of social media sites like Twitter and Ustream. His daily "tweets" give his fans a glimpse into the day-to-day life of Ochocinco.
Alternatively, Rock Software has produced a cell phone application that gives users the ultimate "Ocho Cinco Experience".
Having been raised in the inner city of Miami, Chad doesn't easily forget where he came from. Whether it is teaming up with Motorola to give away hundreds of seats to a Bengals game or racing a thoroughbred for charity, he understands the importance of giving back and staying grounded to his roots.
On a more global scale Chad has partnered with Feed The Children to raise awareness for the worldwide epidemic of hunger and poverty facing children around the world.
