Bio
Alex Karpovsky is an American director, actor, screenwriter, producer and editor best known for his starring (initially recurring) role as Ray Ploshansky in the dark comedy-drama television series Girls.
Karpovsky studied visual ethnography at Oxford University. His award-winning debut feature, The Hole Story, earned him a slot in Filmmaker Magazine's 25 new faces of independent film.
His subsequent two films (Woodpecker and Trust Us, This is All Made Up) premiered at SXSW, his first thriller, Rubberneck, premiered at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival and his feature Red Flag premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June 2012.
As an actor, Alex has had leading roles in feature-length films that have shown at the Sundance, Berlin, Cannes, Los Angeles, Tribeca and SXSW film festivals.
He also played the role of Marty Green in the Coen Brothers film, Inside Llewyn Davis and appeared in Lena Dunham's first film, Tiny Furniture.
