Sheila McCarthy is a Canadian actress and singer best known for her starring role as Sarah Hamoudi in the television sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie, from 2007-2012.
A Genie award–winner for the classic Canadian films I've Heard The Mermaids Singing and The Lotus Eaters, McCarthy has appeared in the films Being Julia, Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, The Day After Tomorrow and Die Hard.
She also starred in director Sook Yin Lee's Year of the Carnivore and has many credits including Picket Fences, I Was A Rat, Roxana, Missing, Wonderland, Road To Avonlea, Street Legal and Virtual Mom, which she also produced.
She has won the Gemini for Best Actress for her roles in both Emily of New Moon and Sesame Street.
