Thure Riefenstein is a German actor best known to English audiences for his starring role as the villainous Albert Littman in the 2008 mini-series Jack Hunter.
Riefenstein studied acting in Germany, New York and Los Angeles. He played on stage at A-Theatres like the Hamburger Schauspielhaus, the Theater des Westens or the Berliner Ensemble.
He made his English debut in the New York Off-Broadway production The Maids. Riefenstein works for cinema and television internationally, including Germany, USA, UK, Italy, France, Canada or the Czech Republic.
Important features are the WW2 drama Dark Blue World (2001), directed by Academy Award Winner Jan Sverák and the action thriller Hostile Takeover (2001), directed by Carl Schenkel.
Riefenstein is a significant versatile performer known for playing the charismatic and sinister villain in action movies as much as the gentle hero in romantic-dramas or the quirky bird in black comedies.
He starred in the action drama Crociati (2001), with Armin Mueller-Stahl; the feature comedy 666: In Bed with the Devil (2002); and the science fiction feature Ainoa (2005).
In the thriller-drama Baltic Storm (2003) he was a lead with Greta Scacchi, Jürgen Prochnow and Donald Sutherland.
The french period movie Julie, chevalier de Maupin (2004), in which Riefenstein starred with Marisa Berenson, Pierre Arditi and Gottfried John, achieved an International Emmy Award nomination for best foreign film.
Riefenstein lives in Berlin, Germany and Los Angeles.
