Bio
Phumi Mncayi is a South African actor, presenter, singer, voice artist and producer best known for presenting one of the Lotto game shows, Wina Manje, on SABC1.
He is also known for his role as 9-Nine FM radio producer Pitso, a charmer who sweeps Gail off her feet, in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City, from 2010-2011.
Hailing from Khayelitsha in Cape Town, Phumi always wanted to be in front of the camera, so in pursuing his dream he studied Drama at the Waterfront Theatre School. He also holds a four-year diploma in drama from the University of Cape Town.
He has since acted in numerous theatre productions including playing the title role in Shaka Zulu - The Musical, which debuted at the State Theatre in Pretoria in 2010.
In addition, he was seen presenting the SABC3 science and technology show Q, alongside Kgomotso Matsunyane, and Magic to the Max on M-Net.
In 2009 he acted in an episode of the ITV drama series Wild at Heart and in 2012 he played the role of Ndumiso in the SABC1 mini-series Dream World, an adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, set in a contemporary South African setting.
In 2013 he had a starring role in an episode of the e.tv anthology series Mzansi Love: Kasi Style ("Out of Breath", Season 2, Episode 2). His character, James, is a hunky personal trainer whose client, despite falling for him, sees him as beneath her.
He currently resides in Johannesburg.
