Bio
Hugh Dancy is an English actor and model best known for his roles in the feature film Confessions of a Shopaholic and for his roles in the television series The Big C and Hannibal.
He first got started with roles in series such as Trial & Retribution (1998), Dangerfield (1995), Kavanagh QC (1995) and Granada's popular series Cold Feet (1997) and his theatre appearances include Sam Mendes's David Copperfield (2000) and BBC's Madame Bovary (2000).
He also portrayed D'Artagnan in the series Young Blades (2001).
Dancy's appearance in Ridley Scott's war drama Black Hawk Down (2001) as Medic Kurt Schmid was followed with starring roles in Tempo (2003) with Melanie Griffith and Rachael Leigh Cook and The Sleeping Dictionary (2003).
He played Prince Charmont opposite Anne Hathaway in Ella Enchanted (2004) and Galahad in King Arthur, in the same year. He also played Aiden in the 2007 film Blood and Chocolate.
His mother, Sarah, is a publisher, father, Jonathan, a writer and philosophy professor at Reading University. He has a brother, Jack (b. 1977) and a sister, Kate (b. 1980).
Dancy met actress Claire Danes on the set of Evening and they began dating after filming concluded. In February 2009, they announced their engagement and the couple were secretly married in France in early September 2009.
On 4 July 2012, it was announced that the couple was expecting their first child.
