Mpho Sebeng was a South African actor best known for his television roles as Siso Ledwaba in Zero Tolerance (2001-2006), as Slay in Soul Buddyz (2011), Lebo in Z'bondiwe (2015) and as Neo in Ring of Lies (2016).
He is also known for his starring role as Caesar in the 2023 Netflix comedy-drama Miseducation and his recurring role as Bonga on the streamer's drama series Savage Beauty.
Mpho was born in Soweto and raised in Witpoortie, Randburg. He is the eldest in the family and attended West Ridge High, matriculating in 2011.
When he was 12 yrs old, his mother's friend spotted him in a school production and encouraged him to pursue acting.
He got into Soul Buddyz after auditioning for a part as gang leader Slay. He also played the role of Tsietsi Mashini in the movie Winnie, which aired in 2011. His favourite acting memory was meeting Jennifer Husdon on set in the movie.
His interests, besides acting, were script writing, photography and directing. Mpho had a passion for the arts and wanted to play a role in the growth of the industry in South Africa.
In 2015 he had a starring role in the e.tv drama series Z'bondiwe as Lebo Ngcobo, a troubled, dark young man who is the younger brother of Axe and Jackson's youngest son.
In the same year he starred in the movie The Jakes Are Missing and had a recurring role on the first season of the Mzansi Magic drama series Saints and Sinners, where he played Nkosi Radebe.
Between 2016 and 2018 he starred in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Ring of Lies as Neo, a bare-knuckle boxing champion who gets scouted by a well-known manager on the dusty streets of rural Limpopo.
He received a Best Actor SAFTA nomination for the role.
In 2018 he also played the recurring role of Goitseone in the Mzansi Magic telenovela The Throne and in 2021 he starred in the SABC1 drama series Hush Money, as Mayihlome Dukashe.
In 2022 he had recurring roles in the Netflix dramas The Brave Ones and Savage Beauty, and on the final seasons of the Mzansi Magic telenovela The Queen and SABC3's The Estate.
He went on to star in the Netflix comedy-drama Miseducation as Caesar Mokoena in 2023 and had a recurring role on the Mzansi Magic music industry drama Kokota in the same year.
He also had guest roles on the SABC1 beach drama series Bay of Plenty, e.tv soapies Scandal! and Rhythm City and in 2015 he was a celebrity contestant on the e.tv game show I Love South Africa.
Mpho died in a car accident on Sunday 5 May, 2024. He was 31.
