Richard van der Westhuizen is a South African actor and musician best known to television audiences for his roles in predominantly Afrikaans dramas such as Die Mannheim Sage, Ballade Vir 'n Enkeling, Paradys, Onder Draai Die Duiwel Rond, Plek Van Die Vleisvreters, Hart Van Staal and 7de Laan.
He also wrote and performed the theme song for the television series Ballade Vir 'n Enkeling in 1986. A soundtrack album including the song reached gold status in South Africa.
Other television shows he has appeared in include 1945, Die Meisie Van Suidwes, Agter Elke Man, Death In The Family (mini-series), Honeytown I and II, Arsenaal, Samaritaan, and Dryfsand.
In 2007 played the title character in the Afrikaans sitcom Andries Plak, which premiered on SABC2 on Friday 6 April.
In 2008 he played the role of Magistrate Grobler in the SABC2 mini-series Riemvasmaak, from February to March. He made a guest appearance as an Inspector in the SABC2 sitcom Askies, in 2009.
He made a guest appearance as Jingles in the seventh episode of the SABC2 sitcom Konsternasie Oppie Stasie, in 2009.
In 2013 he had a starring role in the kykNET period drama Donkerland.
