Joanna Vanderham is a Scottish actress best known for her starring role as Denise Lovett, the newest and most outstanding member of The Paradise staff, in the period drama television series The Paradise.
From a small village near Perth in Scotland, she was plucked from college to play her first role in the Sky Living mini-series The Runaway, in 2011. Joanna, then in her second year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, was spotted by casting director Emma Style and asked to audition.
She was given time off college to film The Runaway but returned to finish her course and graduated in June that year, after which she moved to London to further her career.
Joanna played Jenny Muirhead in Young James Herriot and Amanda Delany in Above Suspicion: Silent Scream and appeared in the film What Maisie Knew with Alexander Skarsgård and Julianne Moore.
In 2012 she landed the female lead in The Paradise and was also cast as society It girl and Julian's sister Pamela in the period drama Dancing on the Edge.
Born into a middle-class family, Vanderham's Dutch businessman father Tom and mother Jill, a professor of cardiovascular research at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, split up when she was a child.
