Jacques Gombault is a South African actor and filmmaker best known for his starring role as Robert Gouws in the kykNET drama series Song vir Katryn, from 2003-2004.
Gombault's first TV role after his BA Drama (Honours) Studies at Pretoria University was Deon Opperman's Jackpot in 1995. In 1996, he appeared in the American action film Operation Delta Force with international stars like Ernie Hudson, Joe Lara and Jeff Fahey.
This was followed by several cameo roles in TV productions such as Egoli, 7de Laan, Laksman, Isidingo and Villa Rosa. His big breakthrough came in 2003 with the role of Robert Gouws in kykNET's first original series Song vir Katryn.
Later television roles included Daniel in Dit Wat Stom Is, Danny in Dryfsand, Herman in Erfsondes, Andries in Kruispad and Blackie in Getroud Met Rugby.
On stage, Jacques has played in various productions such as Die Groot Wit Roos in 1989, Hoe Later Hoe Kwater in 1996, the ever popular My Vrou se Man se Vrou in 1999 and 2002 and in 2009 he appeared in the successful musical Ons vir Jou.
At an international level Jacques has appeared in several film and television productions including Coup (BBC), Skin, District 9, The Bang Bang Club and Darryl Roodt's Winnie.
However, the highlight of his career came when he won the ATKV prize in 2009 for Best African TV actor for his portrayal of Andries in kykNET's Kruispad.
