Ian Pirie is a Scottish actor best known for his recurring role as Captain Dragonetti in the historical fantasy drama Da Vinci's Demons.
Ian's career began in musicals, but before he tread the boards he served his apprenticeship as a welder in Scoland. In 1996 he went for an open audition for Andrew Lloyd Webber and landed a part in Jesus Christ Superstar in London's West End.
Since then his career has gone from strength to strength, working for the National Theatre of Scotland, The RSC and The Globe, among many others.
In the last few years Ian has worked extensively in television and film, including I am Soldier - a film by Ronnie Thompson - and a low budget movie called Who Needs Enemy's. He was also cast in Terrance Davies' film Sunset Song.
Ian is originally from Aberdeen. He is married to the actress Victoria Donovan and has two children, Daniel and Hannah. He is a keen sportsman who despite his growing years, plays Badminton to a very high standard. He lives with his family in Berkshire.
