Bio
Thato Molamu is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Nicholas Nomvete, a spoiled brat who is trying to make headway in the advertising industry, in the SABC1 soap opera Generations, joining the cast in 2011.
The 2010 Brett Goldin Bursary Winner, Molamu started acting at the North West Arts Council in 1996 with kiddies shows like The Grandball and Jack In The Box.
He worked on his first Shakespearean plays from 2001, including A Midsummer Nights Dream (as Lysander and Peter Quince), King Lear as Edmund, Hamlet as Laertes and Romeo and Juliet as Tybalt in 2008.
He studied Film and Broadcasting at Damelin in 2005 and did his first musical, Where The Sun Rises, in 2004. He also appeared in Meropa in 2006 as Phuti.
His television credits include Baas Van Die Plaas with Sean Else, Hillside as Kholo Maloka, Phycosis as Mandla (short film) for an Anglo Platinum awareness initiative, a KFC zinger ad and Actors Anonymus as Tshepo (short film) directed by Robyn Aronstom.
Other credits include MABRR Brenda Fassie (Musical) at the Pretoria State Theatre, Intersexions for Curious Pictures and Generations.
In 2014 he hosted the SABC2 game show What's Behind the Wall?, in which each week four contestants are challenged to discover the historical, sports or current events hidden behind a wall.
He had a guest starring role in the SABC1 drama series Kowethu in late 2014 and the following year landed a major recurring role as TK Morare, Mnqobi's business associate and the son of a deceased wealthy township entrepreneur, in the e.tv drama series Umlilo.
In early 2016 he guest starred on the second season of the SABC1 drama series Mfolozi Street before landing the lead role in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Greed & Desire.
In October 2016 he joined the Mzansi Magic entertainment magazine programme All Access Mzansi as one of the hosts, alongside fellow new presenter Nomalanga Shozi and returning host Mbali Nkosi.
