Bio
Thomas Craig is an English actor best known for his role as Inspector Thomas Brackenreid, the head of the stationhouse who does most of the interrogating, often forming opinions on a suspect because of personal impressions or their social standing, on the police procedural television series Murdoch Mysteries.
A native of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England, Craig studied at the prestigious Academy of Live and Recorded Arts before landing the recurring role of D.C. Lambton on crime series The Paradise Club.
Since then, Craig has starred in numerous television movies, series and feature films, but he's probably best known for his recurring roles on the well-loved British series Where the Heart Is and Coronation Street.
Craig made his star turn in the 2001 dramatic feature film The Navigator, directed by Ken Loach. Also on the big screen, Craig appeared in The Tournament, starring Ving Rhames and Robert Carlyle; Privateer 2: The Darkening, a sci-fi feature with Christopher Walken; and Shooting Stars.
Craig also stars in the award-winning series Murdoch Mysteries and has received a Gemini nomination for his role as Inspector Brackenreid.
Craig's many television credits include episodes of the comedy series Common As Muck; children's series The Wild Life and Woof!; and dramatic series Blue Murder, Holby City, Doctors; Dangerfield, Soldier Soldier VII, Out Of The Blue II, Madson, Cadfael, Peak Practice, Casualty, Boon, A Time To Dance, El C.I.D, The Chief II; and the award-winning crime drama series Inspector Morse.
Craig also appeared in the television movies Forgiven; Prime Suspect 4: Inner Circles, starring Helen Mirren; Seconds Out; Born Kicking; Smack And Thistle; and Mr. Wroe's Virgins, a mini-series featuring Jonathan Pryce and Minnie Driver.
Craig has also performed extensively on the British stage in productions including Rita Sue And Bob Too and Wild Oats at the West Yorkshire Playhouse; Biloxi Blues at the Library Theatre in Manchester; West Side Story with the Lost Theatre Co., Macbeth at the Swindon Theatre; and the UK Productions of Babes In The Woods and Jack And The Beanstalk.
Craig received glowing reviews for his performance in London's Derby Theatres production of Broken Hearted, where he was reunited with his fellow Corrie alumn Katherine Hunt.
Craig makes his home in London.
