Bio
Marco Spaumer is a South African actor and presenter best known for his starring role as Chris du Plooy's son Tim in the kykNET soap opera Suidooster (2015 - 2024).
He is also known for presenting the MK and kykNET show Sêr, and the kykNET & kie magazine show Kollig.
Other television series he has acted in include 7de Laan, Binnelanders and Geraamtes in die Kas, and he has appeared in music videos for artists such as Willem Botha and Chane Valentine.
Marco studied Musical Theatre at the Tshwane University of Technology.
His theatre credits as a student include Parade and Ester die Musical. He also worked on Tjiff and Tjaff for numerous roadshows. He starred in the National Children's Theatre production of Charlotte's Web and the lead of Aladdin in Aladdin Jr. the musical.
He also played the male lead in Sand, a play featured at Grahamstown National Arts Festival and Woordfees 2014. In the same year he was also part of Reik Na Die Sterre - Die Musical, at the State Theatre in Pretoria.
He was involved in a Spar Healthy Living campaign as a performer and was an ambassador for VERB South Africa.
In 2013 he had a small role in the feature film As Jy Sing and in 2015 landed his first starring screen acting role in the kykNET soapie Suidooster where he played villain Tim "Timmy Boy" du Plooy until 2024 when Tim's cruel deeds and atrocities caught up with him.
Tim was arrested for the murder of character Nazeem (Irvine van der Merwe) and was denied bail in an episode on Monday 6 May 2024, sending him to jail. This is where Tim's storylines ended and Marco exited the show.
In 2022 Marco played the recurring role of Kyle in the third season of the coming-of-age mystery drama series Blood & Water.
