Bio
Soso Rungqu is a South African actress, singer, dancer and voice artist best known for her role as tough, opinionated welder Morongwa Kau on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo.
Born in East London, she matriculated from Clarendon Girls High School in 2001. She later studied Performing Arts in Musical Theatre at the Tshwane University of Technology.
She studied for three years and in 2007 got her first theatre gig at the Civic Theatre, which is now the Johannesburg Theatre. She also did corporates for MTN and Vodacom.
Soso was the voice of the animated character Smartycat on the e.tv kids' show Cool Catz from 2008-2010. During this tiome she also did theatre for high schools and primary schools, then went back home and worked with the department of Arts and Culture, where she did informal training in acting at underprivileged schools.
She has had cameo roles on numerous television series including Mzansi Love, Scandal!, Rhythm City, Sokhulu & Partners and 7de Laan.
Soso also featured in a series of "HeartLaughs" sketches, which were produced by Heartlines Centre for Values Promotion as part of a DVD called "Values in Action", providing the Christian community with a seven-week course to mobilise small groups to undertake values-based action projects.
She has done theatre, corporate theatre, industrial theatre, corporate video and commercials, and apepared in the short films Awakening (2014) and Beneath the Art (2015). She also voiced a role on the TruFM radio drama uHambolwethu.
In 2016 she landed her largest role to date, as the welder Morongwa on Isidingo.
