He is an Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellow, sits on the advisory council of the Public Sector Excellence Awards and the boards of both Love Life and the Foundation for a Safer South Africa.

In September 2014 he presented the first episode of the four-part documentary series Rainbow Makers on SABC2, entitled "A Tribute to the Frontline States". In October 2014 he joined the National Youth Development Agency reality TV series Future Leaders for its second season on SABC1, in which he guided the season's mentors - Ndumiso Hadebe, Johan du Pisanie and Anele Ndzimande. In the series, contestants meet with inspirational public figures who offer leadership advice and career planning.
In 2016 he was one of four personalities to headline the SABC3 daytime talk show Trending SA, in which the panel and guests discuss trending hashtags of the day, commenting on issues that are currently active on social media.
