Sivan Raphaely is a South African filmmaker, screenwriter, singer and actress best known for her starring role as Patricia in the SABC3 drama series Thula's Vine. It was her first starring role in television.
Born in Johannesburg, Sivan studied musical theatre for three years at Pretoria Technikon and has worked steadily in theatre ever since.
Her theatre debut was in the 2000 production of Jo'burg Follies, for which she was nominated for three FNB Vita Awards. She was also nominated for a Naledi Theatre award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Maureen in a 2007 production of Rent, directed by Anthony Rapp.
Other theatre productions she has acted in include We Will Rock You, directed by Ben Elton and Andy Pole; From the Mouths of Babes, directed by Malcom Purkey at the Market Theatre, for which she was nominated for a Fleur du Cap award for Best Actress in a Musical (Cape Town); Macbeth, directed by Mark Graham; Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Megan Wilson; and the title role in Brer Rabbit, directed Gina Schmukler at the Market Theatre.
Sivan has acted in a number of films as well, including Layla Fourie, The Salvation, Hector and the Search for Happiness and Supermama.
In television, she was a member of the Sucker Squad on the prank show Laugh Out Loud. She also played the role of Cecile Webb on the kykNET soapie Binnelanders and was a storyliner on the second and third seasons of the SABC3 soapie High Rollers.
In 2017 she appeared in her first starring role in television in the SABC3 drama series Thula's Vine, the story of a successful urban celebrity who encounters a fall from grace and returns to her roots to discover a passion for her birthright.
