Samke Makhoba is a South African actress best known for her starring role as naïve and troubled teenager Khensani in the fifth season of the MTV Base drama series MTV Shuga, winning the role after attending open auditions. Although the character is 15, Samke was 28 at the time of filming.
It was her first role in television, which she landed whilst in her fourth year as a student at the University of the Witswatersrand, where she studied Film and Television.
Later in 2017, Samke landed her second role in television - also starring - in the SABC1 sitcom Rented Family, in which she plays Zach's (Trevor Gumbi) teenage model-C daughter Zanele.
Her role in Rented Family meant that her first two television acting roles were both as a starring cast member.
Samke was born in Umlazi, in KwaZulu-Natal, and moved to Pinetown with her family. She completed high school at Pinetown Girls High, where drama was her first subject.
After high school she attended the University of the Western Cape where she studied Medical Bio Science. She left this degree to relocate to Johannesburg to study Film and Television at the University of Witwatersrand.
