Mlindelwa "Lilli" Mahlangu is a South African actor and writer best known for his starring role as Phenyo, an impulsive, domineering 40-year-old taxi driver who wants to marry the love of his life but can't afford to, in the SABC2 drama series Guilt.
It was his first starring role in television.
Lilli was a guest acting student at the Wits School of Arts from 2003-2006 and returned a decade later to do an Advanced Diploma in Applied Theatre in 2016. In between, he did a course in entrepreneurship at the University of Johannesburg.
He has acted in and written numerous theatrical productions, most notably a series of short plays called Jozi Shorts, in 2017. He also acted in the productions, which played at the Wits Amphitheatre and The Platform.
Other theatre shows he has acted in include Trials, Herbs of Love, Gangster, The Cursed Child, A Clockwork Orange, Ityala Lomhlawulo and We Shall Sing for the Fatherland.
Films he has acted in include Akin Omotoso's Vaya in 2016 and Sweisbril, directed by Gérard Rudolf, in 2017. He has also acted for corporate clients including Johannesburg City Parks, Liberty and FNB, among others.
Lilli has also appeared in numerous television commercials for clients including Wimpy, BuyDirect, Lucky Star, Brothers for Life, Uber and Kulula.
Television series Mlindelwa has acted in include Isidingo, Ya Lla, iThuba Lokugcina, Ngempela, Generations and Tjovitjo, for which he also worked as a production assistant.
In 2017 he landed the recurring role of lawyer Edmond Phiri on the Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso, making his first appearance in Season 1, Episode 50, which aired on 27 June, 2017.
In 2018 he had his first starring role in television in the SABC2 drama series Guilt, about a group of neighbours who stumble across one million rands in a near death accident and must decide amongst themselves what to do about it.
