Bio
Crystal-Donna Roberts was a South African actress and television presenter best known for her role as Janice Cupido on the kykNET & kie soapie Arendsvlei, from 2018-2024.
She was also known for playing the title role in the 2017 feature film Krotoa, for which she won the 2018 SAFTA for Best Actress in a Feature Film.
Additionally, she was known for her role as drug addict Janine in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan and for presenting the SABC2 magazine programme Pasella.
Crystal-Donna achieved a B.A. Drama and Theatre Arts from The University of the Free State (2003-2005) and has appeared in numerous theatre productions including Little Shop of Horrors, Romeo & Juliet: Unplugged (in which she played Juliet) and Siener in die Suburbs, directed by Heinrich Reisenhofer.
In 2009 she appeared in 7de Laan and she played the role of Bijou in the first season of the SABC1 drama series Montana.
The following year she was in the starring cast of kykNET drama series Vallei van Sluiers, where played Charmaine Willemse for four seasons.
Other television series she acted in include Getroud Met Rugby (Seasons 3 and 4), Die Boland Moorde and a guest starring role on the series finale of the crime drama series Die Byl.
Feature films she appeared in include Die Ongelooflike Avonture van Hanna Hoekom (2010), Skeem (2011), Chronicle (2012), The Endless River (2015), Tussen as en Hoop (2016) and her award-winning role in Krotoa, in 2017.
In 2018 she had a starring role as Liesl, one of Rossouw's (Bobby van Jaarsveld) friends, in the kykNET sitcom Mense Mense.
Crystal-Donna died after a protracted battle with cancer on 6 March, 2025. She was 40.
