Rouge is a South African rapper and TV presenter best known for presenting the SABC1 music reality competition The Remix SA.
Born in South Africa, Rouge is of Congolese heritage and grew up in Pretoria where she attended Lyttelton Manor High School.
After matriculating she studied film at the University of Pretoria and was encouraged to start rapping by a friend who believed she had the voice for it. She first started rapping at the age of 19.
The themes of her rap repertoire include her own personal life experiences, her experiences in the music industry, dance tracks, pure rap and the empowerment of women.
Her name reflects the colour of her hair which was red when she first started rapping.
On 2 May 2017 Rouge had a guest role as herself on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.
On 24 May 2017 she made a guest appearance in episode 12 of the fifth season of MTV's HIV-awareness series MTV Shuga.
On 29 May 2017 she was a guest judge in episode 7 of the second season of Mzansi Magic's music reality talent search The Hustle.
On 14 July 2018 she was a musical guest in episode 7 of the Thando Thabethe TLC talk show Thando Bares All.
In 2018 she won the SAMA Award for Music Video of the Year for her single Arumtumtum. In the same year she won a SAFTA Award for Best Micro Film for her film New Era Sessions, a companion film to her album which she acted in.
She speaks French fluently.
