Getmore Sithole is a Zimbabwean-born, South African actor best known to international audiences for his starring role as Julius Khumalo in the Netflix drama series Blood & Water.
He studied acting with David Dennis, Steven Feinstein and Louise Saint-Claire.
He made his screen acting debut in 2000 with a recurring role on the SABC1 soapie Generations, playing a boxer who attempted to date Queen (played by Sophie Ndaba).
He followed this up in 2002 with another soapie role - this time on e.tv's Backstage - as tough detective Dikobo, whose sole focus was to bring down the drug lord Duke Ngcobo (Carlo Radebe).
In 2004 he played the supporting role of Detective Ditini in the police procedural drama series Jozi Streets, which aired on e.tv.
He later played Advocate Maponya on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City, who relentlessly pursued crime boss David Genaro (Jamie Bartlett).
Getmore also had a significant recurring role on another e.tv soapie - Scandal! - in which he played Cain Gumede, who was framed by his drug-dealing cousin Daniel Nyathi (Sello Maake Ka-Ncube) and left to rot in a foreign prison for 10 years.
The damaged, psychotic Cain then sought revenge against Daniel when he was released from jail.
Another soapie role was on M-Net's The Wild, in which he recurred as the incorruptible Joseph Sithole - an animal conservationist seeking to expose the rhino poaching led by Chief Itumeleng Tladi (Shona Ferguson).
He also recurred as Bab' Shezi for two seasons on the e.tv soapie Ashes to Ashes, from 2015-2016.
Other television series Getmore has acted in include Ashes to Ashes, Intersexions, Wild at Heart, 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls, Jozi-H, Diamond City, Sokhulu & Partners, 90 Plein Street and The Docket.
Getmore's international profile was raised in late 2019, when he was announced as one of the starring cast of the Netflix coming-of-age drama series Blood & Water, in which a Cape Town teen sets out to prove whether a private-school swimming star is her sister who was abducted at birth.
The series debuted in 190 countries on 20 May, 2020.
Getmore is also a prolific voice artist. He was MTN's official voice for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals in South Africa and the MTN official voice in Africa and parts of the Middle East from 2009-2015.
He has performed voice overs in radio and TV adverts and was the lead voice for the Department of Arts and Culture's 20 Years of Democracy campaign.
He has acted in numerous television commercials, including the lead character for AIG Insurance infomercials from 2012-2015; and the lead in Procter and Gamble's Brand Africa Campaign for their Oral B Power Brush campaign.
Other commercial clients include Nokia, Lemon Twist, Kellogs, GrandPa, Suzuki, Jik, Aquafresh, Chicken Licken, Ford Ranger, Castle Lager, DStv and Canon.
Getmore's film credits include roles in Le Lion, Mrs Mandela, Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove, Clarissa's Secret, An Act of Defiance, The Last Victims, Blood & Oil and A Covert Affair.
Getmore has been married to Dorriane, a fashion designer (House of Havilah), since 2002. Together they run Sandton Elite Apartments, a company that caters to the accommodation needs of local and international business, and tourists.
