Bio
Nompilo Maphumulo is a South African actress best known for her role as Nosipho Xulu in the SABC1 soapie Uzalo.
Born and raised in the township of KwaMashu near Durban, she studied the performing arts at the KwaMashu Community Advancement Projects (KCAP).
KCAP is a non-profit organisation with a reputation for producing acclaimed theatre productions. Nompilo graduated from there in 2011.
Initially working primarily in theatre, Nompilo appeared in a number of theatre productions in Durban including Sugar Daddies, The Weeping Candle, Madame President Musical and The Legend Will Never Die.
In 2014 she was cast as Nozie in the feature film Between Friends: Ithala, a comedy-drama directed by Zuko Nodada in which a group of university friends reunites after seven years.
2015 was Nompilo's breakout year when she was cast in the role of Nosipho Xulu, the daughter of Muzi and MaNgcobo, in the SABC1 soapie Uzalo, which went on to become South Africa's most-watched show.
Recurring for the first three seasons, she was promoted to starring cast from Season 4 onwards.
