Bio
Christopher van der Westhuizen is a South African actor best known for his role as Emile in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan.
He began taking drama lessons at the age of 11 and appeared in his first feature film, Die Ongelooflike Avonture van Hanna Hoekom (The Unbelievable Adventures of Hanna Hoekom), in 2010.
Under the guidance of director Regardt van den Berg and co-stars Gys de Villiers and Anna-Mart van der Merwe, his passion for acting was kindled.
He has lent his voice to the weekly Radio Sonder Grense (RSG) teen drama Ratels, by Leon van Nierop; and worked on a full-length radio drama, Baron in die Bome, with Richard van der Westhuizen.
He had small parts in the feature films Agent 2000 and Ballade vir 'n Enkeling, before landing his first major lead in Andre Velts' romantic comedy film Jou Romeo (Your Romeo), in 2016.
In the film he plays Tyler, a drama geek and an outsider in the school's social ranking. Together with his BFF, Yvette, they establish the school's drama group, where geeks can live out their creative frustrations in a safe environment.
Christopher made his television acting debut on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan on 27 December, 2018, playing the role of Emile.
He next landed the recurring role of Magnus in the kykNET soapie Binnelanders, making his first appearance in Season 14, Episode 248 (which aired on 22 May, 2019). He returned to the role in Season 15.
In 2020, Christopher starred in the Andre Velts romantic drama film Vergeet My Nie (Don't Forget Me).
Later that year he landed his first starring role in television when he was cast as Henry, Roelof's (Pietie Beyers) paranoid son, in the kykNET drama series Siende Blind.
Shot during lockdown, the four-part series premiered on 24 November, 2020.
