Bio
Zenobia Kloppers is a Namibian-born South African-based singer, actress, voice artist, writer and business owner best known for playing the title role in the 2019 feature film Fiela se Kind (Fiela's Child).
For the role she received the Best Actress Award at the 2020 South African Independent Film Festival, as well as Best Actress nominations at the 2020 Africa Movie Academy Awards, the 2020 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) and the 2019 kykNET Silwerskermfees.
She graduated with a Performers Licentiate in Music, Physical Theatre & Movement from Stellenbosch University and a Performers Diploma in Acting from the University of Cape Town.
Zenobia began her professional career in entertainment in 1991 and has worked steadily ever since in productions on stage, radio, television and film.
She has worked extensively in theatre throughout her career in shows including Ghoema, Sarah: Saartjie Baartman, Fiela se Kind and Kô, Lat Ons Sing!.
She has also worked extensively in audio work and radion dramas, primarily for Cape Town station Radio Sonder Grense (RSG) 100-104FM. She has voiced roles in productions including Boemerang, Poppie - Die Drama, Kuspad, Inferno, Purgatoria, Huis op die Hawe and Stoom.
Feature films she has acted in include The Endless River, Noem My Skollie, Bhai's Café and Fiela se Kind.
Zenobia made her television acting debut as Joey the Bergie (vagrant) in the 2013 kykNET adventure series Thomas@, based on the book by Carina Diedericks-Hugo.
She next played the recurring role of Fatima Ibrahim on the SABC1 coming-of-age youth drama series Amaza, directed by Lucilla Blankenberg, in early 2014.
She played the role of Rebecca Thuli, a caring mother but a bitter daughter, on the kykNET soapie Suidooster, making her first appearance in Season 4, Episode 203 (which aired on 9 January, 2019). She reprised her role the following two seasons.
Also in 2019, Zenobia had another recurring role in the kykNET & kie soapie Arendsvlei, as the character Emily, a greedy aunt. Her first appearance was in Season 2, Episode 3, which aired on 2 October.
The following year she had a guest role in the kykNET drama series Projek Dina (Project Dina), appearing in Season 1, Episode 3, which aired on 28 January, 2020. She played the role of Margie, a distraught mother whose child has been kidnapped.
She next had a recurring role as Tristana - a professional mourner at funerals - on another kykNET drama, Sara se Geheim (Sarah's Secret), first appearing in the role in Season 3, Episode 8 (which aired on 5 March, 2020).
