Bio
André Lötter is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Rickus on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan.
Having matriculated from Hoërskool Goudrif in Johannesburg in 2002, he went on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Drama from the Tshwane University of Technology, from 2006-2008.
He has subsequently appeared in numerous theatre productions including Danny, The Champion of the World (directed by Pieter Botha), Kruispad (directed by Wim Vorster), Somewhere on the Border (directed by Andre Odendaal) and the title role in a production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which ran from 2011-2012.
Other theatre productions include Goggas, My Vrou se Man se Vrou, Hairspray, Vettie Vettie and Big Bad Musical.
His television acting debut came with a recurring role as a photographer called Jacques in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan, which he played from 2005-2010. Six years later he would return to the show in a different role.
Andre next had a guest role as a dancer in an episode of the kykNET sitcom Parys Parys, in 2012 (Season 1, Episode 12).
The following year he landed the recurring role of Lukas in the kykNET soapie Binnelanders, which at the time had undergone a temporary name change to Binneland.
He followed this up in 2014 with the recurring role of Liam le Roux on another kykNET soapie, Villa Rosa, which won him the award for "Outstanding Male Villain" at the second Royalty Soapie Awards, in 2015.
Also in 2014, he had another recurring role, this time on the musical youth drama series series Sterlopers, which also aired on kykNET. He returned for the second season in 2016.
The following year he had a guest starring role in an episode of the Mzansi Magic telenovela The Road and in 2016 he had a guest role on the SABC2 sitcom Abo Mzala.
In the same year he returned to 7de Laan in the new character of Rickus Welman, the oldest son of Chris (David Rees) and Mariaan (Deirdre Wolhuter), making his first appearance in the role in June 2016. He was later promoted to starring cast.
Later that year he starred in the made-for-TV movie Eintlik Nogal Baie, which debuted at the Silwerskermfees on 24 August, 2016.
The film tells the story of Jay van Niekerk (Lotter), an attractive but shy cartoonist who is firmly in control of his life. He arrives at crossroads when he encounters Ally (Marisa Drummond) with her overprotective father and ex-boyfriend, which changes his life forever.
Next up was another guest role, this time in an episode of the kykNET sitcom Die Kasteel which aired on 5 September, 2018 (Season 1, Episode 22).
Andre joined the cast of the M-Net soapie Legacy for its second season in the starring role of Robbie Hugo. His first appearance was in the Season 2 premiere on 20 September, 2021.
