Bio
Bonko Khoza is a South African actor best known for his starring roles as Zakhele in the SABC1 comedy-drama series 13 Weeks to Find Mr Right and Mqhele in the Showmax telenovela The Wife.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, he matriculated from the National School of Arts in 2009 after majoring in Fine Arts.
He spent two years studying advertising and design before enrolling for a two-year course in Performance and Theatre Skills at The Market Theatre Laboratory.
He made his screen acting debut in the 2015 feature film Necktie Youth, getting a Best Actor Nomination at the Tribeca Film Festival 2015 for his role as Jabz.
A year later made his television acting debut in an episode of the HISTORY channel historical drama Roots.
Films he has acted in include Beautifully Broken, Cabin Fever and The Mauritanian.
In 2017 he began a recurring guest role in the kykNET soapie Getroud Met Rugby: Die Sepie, making his first appearance in Season 2, Episode 158 (which aired on 8 November, 2017).
He reprised the role in the third season, in 2018.
Also that year, Bonko had a walk-on role in an episode of the Mzansi Magic drama series Abomama which aired on 22 April, 2018 (Season 1, Episode 3).
He had another cameo role in the Netflix comedy web series How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding, in 2020.
The following year he landed his first starring role in television when he was cast in the Showmax telenovela The Wife, which follows the lives of eight Zulu brothers, a formidable crime family, through the eyes of the women they marry.
Between late 2021 and early 2022 he starred in the Showmax telenovela The Wife, as unpredictable taxi driver and taxi owner, Mqhele Zulu - one of eight brothers who falls in love with feisty young journalist Hlomu.
In 2022 he landed another starring role in television, this time when he was cast in 13 Weeks to Find Mr. Right as leading role Zakhele.
The series premiered on SABC1 on Sunday 13 February, 2022.
In 2025 he stars as twin brothers Sanele and Banele in the Mzansi Magic drama series iTonga, premiering on Monday 3 March at 20h30.
