Nelisa Mchunu is a South African actress best known for her role as Fikile on the SABC1 soapie Uzalo.
Born in Wartburg she grew up in Clermont, a township in KwaZulu-Natal. She is the sister of actress Londeka Mchunu.
Nelisa enrolled at the University of Witwatersrand to study for a BA in Media Studies, but didn't complete the course due to financial difficulties.
After leaving university she worked as a waitress and an assistant at a PR company before trying her hand at acting.
She made her screen acting debut as an extra on the now-defunct SABC3 soapie Isidingo, in 2015.
The following year she landed the recurring role of Fikile on Uzalo, joining the show's second season in 2016.
She recurred in the role until Season 7, when she was promoted to starring cast. She left the show during Season 7 when producers decided to write her character out.
Nelisa later played the recurring role of Tzita on the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy, making her first appearance in the role on 21 January, 2020. She continued in the role into 2021.
In 2022 she replaced Busi Lurayi in the starring role of Phumzile on the SABC1 sitcom Ses'Top La, for the show's fifth season which premiered on 14 April, 2022.
