Bio
Simoné Pretorius is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Jony Scholtz in the kykNET mockumentary comedy series Hotel.
She graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2012 with a BDram degree in Theatre Studies, majoring in Acting and Cabaret under the supervision of Marthinus Basson.
She landed her breakout role as Nadia Croukamp in the SABC2 soap opera 7de Laan in 2013, for which she was awarded Best Newcomer at the Royalty Soapie Awards in 2014.
She continued to work on 7de Laan until 2015.
Feature films she has acted in include For the Birds, Wonderlus, Vuil Wasgoed, Stroomop and Vlugtig.
Simoné landed her first starring role in television when she was cast as Jony in the kykNET mockumentary series Hotel, which premiered on 11 July, 2016.
She continued to play the role for five seasons until 2022, receiving a SAFTA nomination in the category Best Actress - TV Comedy in 2018.
In 2018 she landed another starring role, this time as René Spies on the kykNET soapie Binnelanders.
Initially recurring from Season 14, Episode 153 (which aired on 9 January, 2019), she was promoted to starring cast later in the season and continued to play René for the next two seasons as well.
Simoné had a guest starring role in an episode of the kykNET drama series Swartwater which aired on 18 May, 2021 (Season 3, Episode 17).
The following year she played the recurring role of Chanel on the M-Net telenovela Legacy, making her first appearance in Season 2, Episode 185, which first aired on 8 August, 2022.
She next landed the lead role of Dr Elani Breytenbach in the kykNET medical drama series Hartklop, which premiered on 18 July, 2023.
