Tom Welling is an American actor, producer and director best known for his starring role as Clark Kent in the science fiction television series Smallville, from 2001-2011.
Welling went to Okmos High School in Okemos, Michigan where he performed in theatre productions. When he graduated in 1995 he chose to work construction worker instead of going to college.
He was spotted by a modelling scout at a party and moved to Los Angeles where he modelled for Tommy Hillfiger and print ad campaigns.
In 2001 he got his television break with a recurring role as Rob Meltzer in the drama series Judging Amy.
In the same year he was cast as Clark Kent and revived the role in all 10 seasons of the show.
He has also had guest roles in the television series Special Victims Unit 2 and Undeclared.
Welling has had roles in feature films Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Fog (2005) and Cheaper By The Dozen 2 (2005).
He is also an executive producer of the cheerleading drama series Hellcats.
