Bio
Alexis Bledel is an American actress, model and producer best known for her starring role as Lorelai Leigh Rory Gilmore, the only child of Lorelai Gilmore and the first-born daughter of Christopher Hayden who shares her mother's taste in junk food, coffee, movies, music and more, in comedy-drama television series Gilmore Girls.
Bledel started her acting career in community theatre in her hometown of Houston, Texas. She modeled in New York during her school breaks and was studying writing and directing at NYU Film School before being cast as Rory.
In 2002 she received the Family Television Award for the role and was also nominated for Choice Actress in a Drama at the 2002 and 2003 Teen Choice Awards.
Bledel stars in the independent film Orphan King, for writer/director Andrew Wilder. She also appears in Bride and Prejudice, an Indian musical version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, directed by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham).
In the fall of 2002, Bledel made her feature film debut in Tuck Everlasting, based on the acclaimed novel by Natalie Babbitt. The film also stars Ben Kingsley, William Hurt, Sissy Spacek and Jonathan Jackson.
Her other film credits include the independent film Orphan King, Bride and Prejudice, an Indian musical version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Quentin Tarantino's Sin City in which she played Becky.
Additional film credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and its sequel, The Ballad of G.I. Joe, Violet & Daisy, The Brass Teapot, Parts per Billion and Jenny's Wedding.
Alexis moved to Los Angeles when she got the role of Rory and continues to live there.
