Daniel J. Travanti is an American actor best known for his starring role as Capt. Frank Furillo in the television drama Hill Street Blues, appearing in 91 episodes from 1981-1987.
His role won him two Emmy Awards (1981 and 1982) for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and a Golden Globe awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV-Series - Drama, in 1982.
He was nominated for a further four Globes and three Emmys for the same role.
Travanti also had a two-episode recurring role in the first season of Prison Break in 2006, playing President Richard Mills.
Other television shows he has appeared in include The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; Gunsmoke; Kojak; Hart To Hart; Knots Landing; The Outer Limits; and Poltergeist: The Legacy.
